News 12 Brooklyn Coverage of 156 South 9th Street Rally

On July 31 2025, Communities Resist rallied with Los Sures and tenants calling on HPD to file a 7A and remove Jacob Meislik as landlord of 156 South 9th Street. The rally comes as the tenants of 156 South 9th Street have long suffered from inhumane conditions and neglect. This building initially endured a winter with no heat and hot water before the city stepped in to restore it. Still, the tenants have been without cooking gas for a year. And one tenant even had a ceiling collapse in her bedroom. Furthermore, this building has broken hallway windows, missing fire doors, no front door lock, and over 20 empty units that are attracting pests and jeopardizing the tenants’ health and safety.
